Amelia Friedman, DC Co-Director. Amelia is a cofounder of Hatch, a Y Combinator Fellowship company. Previously, Amelia served as the Executive Director of the Student Language Exchange, an education nonprofit she founded while in college and subsequently expanded to operate in 7 cities. An active global education advocate, Amelia has written about language learning for the Atlantic, Forbes, the Huffington Post and USA Today, and spoken about language education at South by Southwest, the Capitol, and numerous academic conferences. Amelia also serves on the selection committee for the C.V. Starr Social Innovation fellowship, as a mentor for social entrepreneurs at Brown University, and a mentor with Edu-Futuro. Amelia graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Brown University in 2014. She is a current Halcyon fellow, living and working in Washington, D.C.
Anna Kohanski Mason, DC Co-Director. Anna is the Director of Investments, Rise of the Rest at Revolution. Rise of the Rest is a nationwide effort to work closely with entrepreneurs in emerging startup ecosystems. Previously, Anna was a co-founder of BurnThis, a mobile marketing platform and consumer social network focused in the health and wellness space. The BurnThis app was featured by Apple as the top tracking app in health and wellness in September 2015 and was acquired by Beachbody LLC in December 2015. Prior to co-founding BurnThis, Anna spent 8 years on Wall Street as a Distressed Bond & Private Equity Trader. Anna received her BA from Harvard College in 2006 and her MBA from NYU Stern School of Business in 2013. Anna is also a certified health coach and a published author. Her first novel, They All Fall Down, was published in September 2015.
